For Schools & Education
Learning Outside the Classroom
Vector Wild creates practical, solution-focused workshops taught in the outdoors — adding context to content and deepening the knowledge young people gain in the classroom. Sessions can take the form of day-long expeditions for a single subject, interdisciplinary trips, or a series of workshops across different year groups and subjects throughout the day to fit your timetable.
Day-Long Expeditions
Single or multi-day expeditions that take learning beyond four walls.
Geography
Paddle rivers and lakes in canoes, or head to the hillsides to study real-world topography, geology, biodiversity and river systems — tailored to each group and your teacher's specific requirements.
Biology
A day examining food chains in the wild, biodiversity, forestry and soil as a survival tool.
Interdisciplinary Expeditions
Team building combined with a curriculum-focused expedition featuring a variety of subject content across one or two days.
Stand-Alone Lessons
Bite-sized outdoor sessions that slot into your existing timetable.
Maths
Discover the Fibonacci sequence in real time — repeated across plants, shells, flowers and fruit. Calculate tree yields and heights, work out speed, time and distance using Naismith's rule, and collect live data to build graphs and charts.
Home Economics
Wild food, campfire cooking, the bushcraft kitchen and hygiene in the outdoors.
Science
Apples and potatoes as batteries, tree planting, wild water purification, the fire triangle and different ways to light — and safely extinguish — fire.
RMPS
Debating in the outdoors using found objects to encourage dialogue, and fire circles that create safe spaces for exploring moral dilemmas.
English
Creative writing inspired by green spaces, and storytelling using natural prompts — where lowered inhibitions encourage play and creativity.
French
Orienteering with control points featuring French language puzzles.
Technical Subjects
Bushcraft tools to build outdoor classroom furniture — chairs and tables — plus cordage, fishing hooks, birch-bark glues and charcoal, safe tool use and green woodworking.
Art
Making and using charcoal, and environmental art created from nature and found objects.
Multi-Subject Days
For a multi-subject day, we work within your timetable and alongside your staff to plan each session's focus. Where possible, lessons connect to Learning for Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals, and can align with your Rights Respecting Schools or Eco-Schools action plan.
Sessions are designed for groups of up to 15 young people, working with timetabled double periods so half the class attends while the other half continues in school — keeping planning focused and delivery personal.
“
Family Story
A Parent's Perspective
“When we first heard about this idea, it immediately felt like the kind of support our child needed. As we began exploring additional support, we realised that mentoring focused on confidence, wellbeing and social development was exactly the sort of provision we hoped would become part of their journey.”
